National Teddy Bear Day
9 Sep 2014
National Teddy Bear Day takes place in the US on September 9th. Initially a US specific holiday that is increasingly being celebrated by bear lovers across the world!
'Teddy' bears are named after US President Theodore Roosevelt, as in 1902, on a hunting expedition, Roosevelt came across the dilemma of shooting a baby bear, which he refused. The incident was illustrated at the time in a newspaper cartoon and soon after a New York toymaker brought to the market a cute stuffed bear named 'Teddy'!
Celebrate with this Vivienne Westwood Teddy Pendant! Vivienne Westwood is believed to have designed this cute Teddy from a lost bear she found on the way to work one day.
