August's birthstone is the beautiful Peridot, which is said to have been sourced nearly a thousand years ago from Egypt. It is mentioned throughout the bible and early Christians considered the stone as sacred. Today religious rituals still use the stone, as it is regarded as a symbol of purity and morality, which has also been given in gifts to resemble love and admiration.
